The proposal for a contemporary home sitting within the surrounding context which enjoys the views across the rural landscape. The design is influenced by both modern and traditional rural housing as well as drawing reference from agricultural and vernacular buildings. The detailing and aesthetic are simple with a selected palette of materials.
The design aspires to create bright, warm interior spaces by maximising solar gain and forming a high performance, energy efficient home. Given the setting, it is important to generate a strong connection with the countryside which includes creating terrace spaces on ground and first floor level.
The chosen materials bed the proposal into the landscape as well as referencing rural and agricultural buildings. Their use is carefully considered to add quality and character to the design as well as being functional, high performing and durable.
